Here are two more transcripts of documents from the estate records of Dennis Lindsey (1794-1836). The transcripts that follow are 1) the inventory of notes owed to the estate of Dennis Lindsey at the time of his death, which administrators John W. Lindsey and James B. Speake presented to Lawrence County Court on 9 December 1836, and 2) the account of the sale of Dennis’s estate, which seems to have taken place on 25 December 1836. In a previous posting, I shared my transcript of the inventory of Dennis’s estate compiled by commissioners appointed by the county court.
I. Notes Owed to Estate of Dennis Lindsey
The original of this inventory of notes owed to Dennis Lindsey at the time of his death is in Jane Lindsey v. John W. Lindsey and James B. Speake as administrators of Dennis Lindsey (Lawrence County, Alabama, loose court case files, #247, box 171, folder 6). A transcript is in Lawrence County’s Orphans Court Inventory and Will Book 1835-1841, pp. 236-7. This inventory of notes owed to Dennis Lindsey’s estate was compiled by administrators John W. Lindsey and James B. Speake, and evidently presented to Lawrence County court in November 1836, though the original has the date 9 December 1836. The following is a transcript of the original document, except where the document has had figures cut out for the names William Simpson, Smith Howel(l), Phillip Tackett, and Bennett Wood. In the case of those names, I have relied on the transcript in Inventory and Will Book 1835-1841. The original document reads as follows:

Notes:
* James Beckham Speake, husband of Dennis’s daughter Sarah Brooks Lindsey Speake.
** Charles Madison Brooks, brother-in-law of Dennis, oldest son of Thomas Brooks and Sarah Whitlock.
*** Thomas M. (Madison?) Brooks, Dennis’s father-in-law.
**** Alexander Mackey Brooks, Dennis’s brother-in-law, and business partner of Dennis’s brother William Burke Lindsey. The county clerk (Wiley Galloway, I assume) has misread this name throughout the inventory of notes, transcribing it as Ann Brooks.
***** Lindsey Moore is closely connected to Dennis Lindsey (1793 – 1855/1860), who is likely a half-brother of Dennis’s father Mark Lindsey: on Lindsey Moore and his connection to the Dennis who is likely Mark’s half-brother, see this previous posting.
****** Dennis’s father.
