A Series of WWII Memoirs (4): William Carl Simpson (1908-1947)

Or, Subtitled: Not all veterans survived the war after they returned home

This is the fourth in a series of memoirs I’m compiling, memoirs that focus on the World War II service of my father, his brother, and my mother’s brother and half-brother. This posting will talk about the WWII experiences of my mother’s half-brother William Carl Simpson, and I’ll complete the series with a posting about the WWII service of my father’s brother-in-law Lee H. Compere and Lee’s brother Powell B. Compere, who died a hero’s death in France in January 1945. The postings I’ve just linked explain the purpose of this series of memoirs, which are compiling information and stories I was told as I was growing up, and adding such documentation as I can find to corroborate or correct those stories.
