Or, Subtitled: “Opend a door for the reception of members and receivd Brother Moſes Birdwell by Experience”

In the previous posting, I trace the life of Moses Birdwell, son of George and Mary Birdwell, from his birth in 1769 in Augusta (later Botetourt County), Virginia, through his years in Sullivan County, North Carolina (later Tennessee) after his parents moved there in 1779, to his marriage about 1790 and the years he spent with his new family in Franklin County, Georgia. As the linked posting and a previous one state, in late 1811 or early 1812, Moses moved his family from Franklin County, Georgia, to Madison County, Mississippi Territory. The linked posting discusses the migration of families from Georgia and the Carolinas in these years into the Tennessee River Valley region of what would soon be north Alabama, and reasons for this migration.[1]
