As the previous posting indicates, a brief biography of Robert Brooks in Biographical History of Tippecanoe, White, Jasper, Newton, Benton, Warren and Pulaski Counties, Indiana states that his children with wife Rachel Adkins were Margaret, Thomas, William, Millie, Nancy, John, Betsy, Charlotte, Mary, Daniel, Sarah A., and James.[1] This source appears to be listing these children in order of birth, but information about their dates of birth on various documents including federal census reports seems to provide a slightly different birth order for the children. I am indebted to researchers Thelma Brooks Morgan and Marilyn Merritt, both descendants of Thomas and Rachel, whose research notes I cited in the previous posting, for some of the following information about the children of Robert Brooks and Rachel Adkins:

Robert Brooks & Rachel Adkins are the parents to my Great-Great-Grand Parent Charlotte Brooks who was married to George Ward in Tippecanoe Indiana & eventually moved to the Territories of New Mexico

It’s good to hear from you, Pat. Yes, I spot Charotte and her husband George Ward in my tree, but my tree has no information about where they lived in the latter part of their lives. I’m very glad to have your information that they went to New Mexico. Now I’ll know where to look for them as I add facts to my tree!

GEORGE WARD & Charlotte Brooks had a son WILLIAM JULIAN WARD born in Santa Fe New Mexico, my Grandfather JOSEPH ABELARD WARD was also born in New Mexico. They slowly moved North to Southern Colorado. Cucharra, Colorado, a small mountain village in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. George Ward was a SURVEYER & he Apprenticed his son William Ward to Apprenticeship. All the Wards on this side of the family were also big Cattle Ranchers.

Thank you so much for filling me in on this son of George Ward and Charlotte Brooks. I have George and Charlotte in my tree, but hadn’t researched their children, it seems, since I don’t have any children listed for them. This is really interesting information. I’m grateful to you for sharing it.

Start your search in Santa Fe NM, then go to SANTA CRUZ DE LA CANADA, I understand George Ward SURVEYED there, but, I don’t know who he worked for. I know WILLIAM JULIAN WARD Surveyed in Colorado, Wyoming Arizona & Montana. Oh ya, I remember my Grandpa said his father was also a Scout with Buffalo Bill Cody when they were young & not to forget he saw the WILD WEST BUFFALO BILL SHOW.
My next venture is to CHECK the Archives for SCOUTS in the Wild West & who my Grandpa & Great Grand Pa worked for, and to SEARCH for more info on who my Ancestors Surveyed for

Hi, Willian, just a heads up, if you check Willian Julian Ward in the FRANCISCO MUSEUM in LA VETA COLO as a Scout and you will probable see his Photo and there is a Photo of just his Jacket. that’s important because BUFFALO BILL CODY who William knew had the same Jacket because he was a Scout at one time too.
