The following are several new pieces of information I’ve uncovered recently regarding a Benjamin Green Junior who was son of Benjamin Green Senior of the Long Cane settlement in what became Abbeville (and McCormick) County, South Carolina. As a previous posting notes, I think it’s very likely that Benjamin Jr. was a brother of John Green (1768-1837), who married Jane Kerr, daughter of Samuel Kerr and Mary Calhoun of the Long Cane settlement. After marrying around 1790, John Green and wife Jane managed the developing upcountry plantation, Keowee Heights, of Jane’s uncle John Ewing Colhoun for a number of years, including overseeing the construction of John’s Keowee Heights plantation house.
