I’ve now found that Elizabeth Hammons Henderson was born 20 July 1808. This date of birth is recorded on her tombstone in Hogan cemetery, Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas.[1] Census data report Tennessee as Elizabeth’s birthplace, and since we know that her parents moved from Wayne County, Kentucky, to Warren County, Tennessee, ain 1807, she would likely have been born in the latter county.
Elizabeth’s tombstone states that she died 13 July 1860, evidently in Limestone County, Texas. King L. Henderson’s tombstone indicates that he was born 20 May 1804 and died 16 August 1860.[2] He is buried in Hogan cemetery along with wife Elizabeth; the couple has a shared tombstone. The Find a Grave memorial page says that the couple married in or about 1830 in Tennessee. Note that Elizabeth’s family had moved from Warren County, Tennessee, to Jackson County, Alabama, by 1820, and King Henderson is on the 1830 federal census in the latter county.
According to their Find a Grave memorial pages, King L. and Elizabeth Hammons Henderson had the following children:
a. Mary Ann Henderson (1830-1881), married Evans.

b. Newton J. Henderson was born 12 January 1832, Jackson County, Alabama, and died 29 March 1934, Burnet County, Texas. In 1884, he married Jennie Prudence Merchant. Newton and wife Jennie are buried in Debo cemetery at Burnet, Burnet County, Texas.[3]
c. William Jasper Henderson was born 29 December 1832 in Jackson County, Alabama, and died 29 May 1922 at Stellar in Fayette County, Texas. On 15 May 1859 in Limestone County, Texas, he married Larcena L. Harris. William and Larcey are buried in Harris cemetery in Limestone County.[4]

d. Calvin H. Henderson was born 6 September 1842 in Texas, and died 12 January 1938 in Cherokee County, Texas. He married Rebecca Jane Reynolds. Calvin and Rebecca are buried in Corine cemetery at Jacksonville, Cherokee County, Texas.[5]

e. Houston Henderson was born 22 November 1847 in Texas, and died 22 November 1937 in Limestone County, Texas. In 1871, he married Eglantine Louisa Glover, daughter of William Stephen Glover and Nancy Phifer. Houston and Eglantine are buried in Cox cemetery at Groesbeck in Limestone County.[6]
