Or, Subtitled: From Georgia to Alabama to Louisiana — Westward Migration of a Plantation Family
As has been noted in a previous posting, though J. Adger Stewart and Alpheus Harlan both indicate, in their histories of the Hollingsworth and Harlan families respectively, that Jacob Hollingsworth and Mary Brooks’s son Jacob was born in 1773, a transcription of his tombstone record indicates that the tombstone has a birthdate of 11 August 1775 and a death date death of 16 December 1848.[1] The posting I’ve just linked discusses a transcription of the tombstones found in the Hollingsworth family cemetery at Preston, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, done by Virginia Pearce Packer in July 2008, which contains these dates of birth and death for Jacob Hollingsworth Jr.[2]
BEGATS AND BEQUEATHALS 
I’ve spent the last two days in virtual Franklin County GA, trying to figure out the Thorntons (1800s)and saw the Hollingsworths. I then went on a quest to find out who these Hollingsworths were, then stumbled upon your writings. The Hollingsworths I’m familiar with are Quakers, and intermarried with Hendersons: Hendersons intermarried with my Thorntons. Some-most of this takes place in Edgefield-Abbeville SC.
So, after reading your intro where you say why you’re publishing yet another genealogy blog, I’m letting you know, I’m glad you did!

I’m so glad you found my Hollingsworth postings and that they’re proving helpful. Thanks for telling me. I look forward very much to reading your Thornton postinbgs. You’re right that the Hollingsworths I follow in my postings have Quaker roots. By the time they reached Georgia, it appears they had lost their Quaker connection and were largely Baptist. Henderson is a new name to me (in connection to the Hollingsworths), but I have many family connections to Thorntons, including to a Thornton family that intermarried with my Lindsey family in Granville County, North Carolina, and went from there to Hancock County, Georgia.
