Isaac Lindsey’s daughter Jane M. Lindsey married John B. Cole, son of John H. Cole and Melinda (Cooper?) of Spartanburg County, and the couple went to Choctaw County, Mississippi, by 1860. John and Jane evidently died there before 1870, and their two surviving daughters Marietta and Melinda Elvira were living in 1870 with their aunt Melissa Cole and husband Simeon Bolivar Roberts. My posting tells you what became of Marietta and Melinda.
I also now know from the estate file of Isaac’s brother Mark that their sister Elizabeth Lindsey Cooper had, in addition to her son Zadock, a son Henry and a daughter Rachel, who evidently married a Perry. I have added information about this to my last posting.
And, sadly, we learn from Mark’s estate file (and the 1860 census) that he was yet another member of this family classified as insane or as a “lunatic.” His estate file shows his niece Rachel Cooper, with whom he was living at the end of his life, being paid for taking care of him, and the 1870 federal census shows him living with Rachel five years before he died.
