James Lauderdale (abt. 1707 – 1796/7): Will and Children

In my previous two postings (here and here), I shared the subtance of what I know about my earliest proven ancestor in the Lauderdale line, James Lauderdale, who died at an advanced age between 24 September 1796, when he made a codicil to his will in Botetourt County, Virginia, and the first Monday in April 1797, when his sons and executors William and James Lauderdale filed an inventory of their father’s estate in Sumner County, Tennessee. Below is a transcription of the will James made in Botetourt County on 22 September 1796, to which he added a codicil two days later.
